What Are The Top Rated Vacuum Cleaners?

!±8± What Are The Top Rated Vacuum Cleaners?

A vacuum cleaner is a very important tool in keeping the house clean and free from dust that may cause sickness in the family. The vacuum is much more effective than traditional cleaning tools that may not thoroughly get rid of all the dirt. The vacuum cleaner does that and requires less effort on your part, making it a very convenient appliance to use.

Because of that, households consider the vacuum machine an important investment. Some people pay a good amount of money to buy one just to make sure that the vacuum they will have is really of great quality. Of course you have to consider many factors before you make your mind on buying one particular unit: factors such as efficiency, durability, flexibility and cost.

A problem however, especially for first time buyers, is that a lot of vacuum appliances exhibit (or promise to exhibit) these factors. Almost all vacuum cleaners are advertised to be efficient, durable, flexible and will not drain your pockets of money. So how are you going to choose which one will really work the best for you? Here are some of the best rated vacuum appliances today, just to give you an idea.

Bagged vacuum cleaners

A bagged vacuum appliance uses suction power to lift dust and dirt off the surface and then stores them in specially provided disposable dirt bags. You may have to buy several disposable bags for your convenience. If you prefer to buy a bagged vacuum cleaner, you can go for the top rated Hoover U5140 900 Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum cleaner.

Advertised to clean even thick carpets deeply and thoroughly, the Hoover Widepath U5140 900 has an extra wide 15 inch cleaning path which enables it to clean wide areas and spaces quickly with just a few sweeps. It also has an allergen filtration system that collects particles such as pollens and dust mites which can trigger various allergic reactions.

When it comes to the disposable dirt bag, its bag is easy to change because the machine has an easy open bag door. There are also additional tools such as two wands which are useful for reaching far places, a crevice tool and a furniture attachment and dusting brush. Relatively light for a full sized machine, you can buy the Hoover U5140 900 for less than a hundred dollars.

Bagless vacuum cleaners

Bagless vacuums, in contrast to the bagged ones, do not come with disposable dirt bags. Instead, they have built in compartments wherein all the sucked up dirt and dust are stored. While dirt bags are thrown away, these dirt compartments have to be emptied every now and then. If you want to buy a bagless vacuum, go for the Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister Vacuum cleaner.

The Dirt Devil Breeze 082500 claims to have plenty of cleaning power in its compact and light body. It has a Microfresh air filtration system that traps fine dust and allergens in the air such as dust mites and pollens that triggers allergies. It also has a large dirt compartment so you need not empty it often.

It is designed to clean bare floors and with its cord which is 20 feet long and its long hose, it can easily clean large spaces without having to move the machine around or in some cases transfer the plug into another socket. It is also very easy to carry up and down the stairs with its lightweight canister. The Dirt Devil also has essential tools such as a carpet nozzle (for carpets) and a bare floor head (for, well, bare floors).

Upright vacuum cleaners

An upright vacuum machine is the traditional type of vacuum appliance where a long handle or hose is attached to a body that contains the motor and other attachments. Uprights are designed to wide spaces in a short amount of time. For upright vacuum cleaners, you can choose to buy the Eureka 4870MZ Smart Vac Upright Vacuum cleaner.

The Eureka Smart Vac promises to deliver excellent cleaning power at an affordable price. It is designed to clean all kinds of floors and carpeted surfaces with its motorized brush that can be adjusted to clean all kinds of carpets and a brush roll that can be switched off to clean bare floors. Its tools include a Power Paw attachment which is very suitable for furniture as well as for cleaning the stairs.

Like the Hoover WidepathU5140, this vacuum machine also has a 15 inch wide cleaning path that cleans large amounts of spaces in a short period of time with just a few sweeps. It also has HEPA filtration system and a triple stage dust trap that collects fine dust and other particles from the air. All of these features are offered at an affordable price so even people with limited budgets can avail.

Canister vacuum cleaners

Unlike the upright vacuum which tends to be stationary, the canister vacuum is designed to be mobile and portable. It has a long hose connected to a small canister, making it easy to carry around and easy to store. A good choice if you want to buy a canister vacuum machine is the Hoover S3765 040 Wind Tunnel Canister Vacuum cleaner.

The second vacuum appliance in this list from the company Hoover, the Hoover Wind Tunnel boasts of a technology of the same name which gives it excellent cleaning power that is better than the more expensive vacuum cleaners. It is bagless and comes with a dirt compartment (of course).

The machine has a 15-level power nozzle that allows it to clean tight and narrow spaces which some other models of vacuum machine cannot reach. Its handle makes it easy to handle, control and operate. It also has HEPA filtration system that traps the dust particles and other allergens in the air. Then it also has a variable speed control that allows you to use different levels of suction, helping you save power when only low suction is needed.

Lastly it boasts of a motorized brush roll which has been described as very aggressive. Why? It is so powerful that the motor brush can actually move the head forward without the user exerting any effort on it.

Vacuum Cleaner Guide - 4 Factors You Must Remember

!±8± Vacuum Cleaner Guide - 4 Factors You Must Remember

Buying a vacuum cleaner is a minefield. How do you possibly choose from the different brands, different models, different features and of course different prices? It would be time worth spent to do some research before buying the first one that catches your eye. Below are some things you may wish to consider before parting with your hard earned money.

1. Upright Vacuums vs Canister Vacuums

There are generally two types of vacuum cleaners, the upright and the canister/cylinder. Both of these have their advantages and disadvantages so it's important to know what these are before buying.

Canister - The cylinder type of vacuum cleaner is a more compact model and so therefore is sometimes easier to store in small spaces. Because of it's maneuverability it works very well in awkward places such as corners, stairs and upholstery. They also work very well on hard flooring due to the heavy suction power of cylinder models.

However, the cylinder cleaners rely purely on suction to clean up an area. Dust and dirt is sucked up into the vacuum dust bag through the cleaning hose which means there is a longer distance to travel. For this reason the cylinder may not be as effective on carpets.

Upright - An upright cleaner however will provide you with more control over the job as you can steer it around the room without bending down and dragging any other equipment behind you, as you do with a cylinder. This means it can be better for those who suffer back pain. They can also be better for larger surface areas as they use less energy to suck up the dirt and dust not to mention the physical energy you save!

In terms of function these cleaners have their motor in the head of the vacuum, this drives a fan which sucks up dust and dirt into the bag or container. They also have revolving brushes which loosen and sweep dirt in the carpet, therefore are more effective than cylinder cleaners.

2. Bag or Bagless Vacuums

The next point to consider when purchasing a vacuum is whether to buy one that has a bag or is bagless. Cleaners with bags tend to be cheaper than cleaners that are bagless and they are easy to change and dispose of the bags. Bagless cleaners on the other hand don't involve having to buy bags and deal with hassles of changing them. However, this can pose as an irritant to those suffering from active allergies.

3. Filters

Something else to consider when buying a vacuum is the type of filter it has. There are many types of filters available ranging from the ones that filter air and dust only to the more advanced filters that are suitable for those with pets or allergies. HEPA filters are now the standard for most vacuum cleaners, however new filter technologies found in modern bag or filter vacuums can do just as good a job.

4. Extras

Other factors to consider when buying a vacuum cleaner include the bag capacity, cord length, power assist, and weight. Not to mention good customer support and a full warranty. You want to make sure you are covered should anything go wrong with your vacuum and this can happen with any make or model at any price.

If you do a good job of your research into vacuum cleaners and spend time asking questions you will be able to select a quality vacuum cleaner. This investment in time and effort may save you time and money in the future.

How To Choose The Best Washing Machine

!±8± How To Choose The Best Washing Machine

Ah, the washing machine. This may be one of the group of appliances which are bought at a rather high price, gives us service, but we tend to take for granted. The washing machine either ends up at the basement or outside our backyards, where it is left alone, broken, cold, accumulated dust and all...

Thank you for taking time to read my dramatics. Seriously, the laundry machine is one of our primary investments when we are building a home. Most families tend to buy a washer before any other appliances and furniture for their house because indeed, it serves an important purpose. Unless you are willing to lug your laundry each and every day to the Laundromat for some expensive washing.

Since the laundry appliance could be considered as an important investment specially for growing families, it is only proper that we know what we need. Not all washing machines are the same and not each model is perfect for you and your family's lifestyle. So before you head out the door to buy a washer, you should first know what washer is best for you.

Here are some of the important factors you need to consider in choosing the best washing machine.

Size matters

The biggest laundry appliance may also look like the meanest one, not to mention the most durable and modern. Not to mention the most expensive (your friends will surely look at your laundry machine with envy!). Not to mention that it will surely take up all the space in your house! Oops?

If I were you, before I go to the department and start my quest for the perfect washing machine, I would do myself a favor and measure up the available space I have in my house. Laundry machines, like any other appliances, come in a wide variety of sizes. If you're living in a condominium or renting an apartment, please don't buy the mammoth one.

Then again, if you know you have plenty of space, then go ahead! Nothing is stopping you. A clothes washer with a big capacity is also very helpful for bigger families with tons of laundry each week. This lessens the number of batches to be done so it conserves energy. However, if you are living alone, even if you do have a lot of space in your house, it would be better if you go with the smaller one - just enough to handle your own laundry.

Front loader or top loader?

This is a very important decision to make before buying a washing machine. Debated for so long, the modern front loader seemed to recently gain much more popularity than its traditional cousin, the top load machine. So what should you get?

If you have back problems or if you have difficulties bending down, I would recommend that you get a top loader. You may also get a top loader if you are the kind of person who is fond of adding additional clothes to the laundry batch already being washed.

However, if that is not much of an issue, a front loader is better. It conserves water and energy (a front loader uses just about a third of what a top loader uses), it is not as space consuming, and because it doesn't use a central agitator, it lessens wear and tear on clothes. A front loader is more expensive than a top loader but you can save up on operational costs. Also, you will encounter less motor problems with a front load machine.

Energy efficiency

An Energy Star label is one of the most important things tat you should check when choosing a new washer. In the past ten years, modern washing machines have already been designed especially to conserve not only energy but also water. When you buy an energy efficient washing machine (or any other appliance for that matter), you are not only helping your bills; you are also helping nature.

Look for one that has a good rating. It may also help if you buy a model from the trusted brands. This is because some smaller companies have put fake Energy Star seals on their own models to increase sales. A truly energy efficient washing machine may cost you more but trust me, you will see your savings once you see significant decrease on your bills. Just look at it as an important investment, something you'll not regret over time.

Using a Consumers Guide To Vacuum Cleaners

!±8± Using a Consumers Guide To Vacuum Cleaners

It is essential that you read a consumers guide to vacuum cleaners before you purchase a vacuum cleaner for your home or office. There are many different types of vacuum cleaners ranging from those that pick up pet hairs to those well-suited for people allergic to dust and airborne pathogens. Aside from the different models, there are different brands that are widely available in the market. To choose the vacuum cleaner well worth your every buck, here are some pointers to guide you.

The first look at a consumers guide to vacuum cleaners tells you that there are generally two types of vacuum cleaners, namely the canister/cylinder and the upright cleaner. The cylinder type of vacuum cleaner is more compact and is easy to use on upholstery, around furniture, even on stairs. They essentially work quite well on hard flooring as the cylinder model relies heavily on its suction power.

On the other hand, upright cleaners provide you with better control over the device as it allows you to steer it. Upright vacuum cleaners are well-suited for large carpet areas. Its brush is able to comb the accumulation of dust and dirt from these areas and as the dirt has a lesser distance to travel up your cleaner, it doesn't waste as much energy and electricity compared to other designs.

The second pointer a consumer's guide will tell you is how each of these models and designs work. As have been mentioned earlier, cylinder cleaners rely on suction to clean up an area. The dust and the dirt therefore get sucked into the cleaning head, through the cleaning hose and into the vacuum dust bag. Because of this reliance on suction power, it may not be as effective on carpets. However if you use a power wand with a beater bar brush they really do a fine job on carpeted surfaces.

Upright cleaners have their motor in the head of the vacuum. This motor drives the vacuum fan which is responsible for sucking up air and dust into the bag or container through a tube. Upright cleaners also have brushes that are revolving and belt-driven which is the one responsible for loosening and sweeping up dirt located deep in a carpet.

The third pointer you can find in using a consumers guide to vacuums is whether to buy a vacuum that has a bag or is bagless. Cleaners who have bags are cheaper than cleaners who are bagless. One great advantage of vacuums that have bags is that you can purchase additional bags if you wish to do so. The only advantage bagless cleaners have is that it doesn't give you all the hassles of having to change the bags when required. However, this can pose as an irritant to those suffering from active allergies.

A good consumers guide will also guide you to the best vacuum cleaner for the type of flooring your home or office has. Different types of cleaners work well on certain types of flooring. Filters should be another consideration when looking to buy a vacuum cleaner. There is a wide variety of filters ranging from the ones that filter air and dust only to the more advanced filters that are suitable for those with pets or allergies. HEPA filters are now the standard for most vacuum cleaners, however new filter technologies found in vacuum clean bags and filters will do even a better job of provide clean exhaust air from a vacuum cleaner.

Additional points that might affect your decision are mentioned in the consumers guide to vacuum cleaners. These include, bag capacity, cord length, power assist, and weight. Customer support and warranty concerns are very important and can be found in your guide. In general the more expensive a vacuum is may not mean it does a better job cleaning or is more reliable.

If you do a good job of research using the consumers guide to vacuums and other sources of information and you will be able to select a quality vacuum cleaner. This investment in time and effort will save you money and headaches in the time to come.

Central Vacuum, Whole Home System

!±8± Central Vacuum, Whole Home System

Central Vacuums have been around for years in more expensive homes and in commercial applications. Basically the central vacuum power unit is located away from the areas to be cleaned in a central location hence the name central vacuum. The central vacuum unit is usually located in the basement or garage and occasionally in a separate structure out side the house or building. Aluminum or reinforced plastic ducting is installed throughout the house providing strategically placed inlets in each main room. Installation of a central vacuum system is normally done during new house or building construction. Retrofitting a house or office with a central vacuum is normally cost prohibited. When it comes time to clean a centrally located switch is thrown and the remote unit creates a strong suction. A cleaning unit comprised of a hose, wand and power head is attached to the inlet. Usually there is an electrical outlet adjacent to the inlet providing electricity to the power roller or beater bar in the tool head. Cleaning then done in a similar manner to that of using a canister vacuum. When the room is clean then the process is completed in the next room until the whole house or office is cleaned. Then the central vacuum is turned off until needed again.

A major benefit of the central vacuum is that the unit dust, mold, allergens and pathogens are not reintroduced to the room being cleaned. All vacuumed materials are transported to a central location where they are deposited. Many new central vacuum units exhaust directly to the outside which further removes the airborne contaminants from the building. Units that do not exhaust to the outside are also efficient in removing contaminants through the use of HEPA filters. One disadvantage to installing a central vacuum is comes in the form of duct maintenance. Ducts will need to be cleaned every couple of years depending on the level of use. Normally cleaning done using a brush on a snake that is run down each duct while the system is running. This assures that the suction remains strong throughout the house. In generally central vacuum systems are relatively quiet during operation. This is important if cleaning activities must be done in office spaces during work hours. Most people who have used or own central vacuum units feel they are the best way to clean.

How To Replace The Belt On Kirby Generation or Sentria Vacuum Cleaner

My mother purchased a Kirby G4 Vacuum Cleaner when I was 10 years old from a door to door salesman. I immediately fell in love with the Kirby from this point forward. In fact, I promised my mother that if she bought the Kirby, I woud vacuum every day of the week! Well that lasted for maybe a month. She would always have problems changing the belt on her G4 when she vacuumed up a pair of my socks under my bed, or a toy that I left out, and she could never seem to get the belt changed properly. Well I took it upon myself to learn how to replace the belt for her, and she would always come to me when the belt broke, asking me how to replace it. Well a few years ago she moved far away from me and could no longer ask me to change her Kirby belt. I figured that I would just go ahead and record a video showing step by step how to replace the belt on a Kirby Generation Vacuum Cleaner, so she could follow step by step the proper way to do it. This is not a difficult repair, but you have to follow an exact set of steps to ensure the belt catches over the pulley. My mother now know how to replace the belt on her Kirby, and hopefully after you watch this video you will also. This repair is identical for all Kirby Generations, including G3, G4, G5, G6, Ultimate G, Diamond Edition, as well as the new Kirby Sentria Model. Please pick up your Kirby parts from our website, www.govacuum.com. We have a special deal on Kirby belts, sold in bulk pack of 5 here www.govacuum.com If you get stuck ...
